Awesome Print

As soon as I saw this I had to get it... I love the work of Kerry Layton of Seventy Tree, and when I decided to pop over to her site to see what was new, this was the first thing I saw! I emailed it to my husband as he's always teasing me about my obsession for finding nice things for our home (a.k.a being addicted to Etsy and Pinterest and constantly finding yet another nice cushion, throw, lampshade, bowl, chair!) and he agreed we totally had to have this up in our house!

I think I'll save it and put it up in the new house, if we ever move!! I'm finding lots of nice things for the new house :)

Swimsuit Shopping

My new M&S swimsuit!

I've been looking for a new swimsuit for a couple of months now, and as per usual found some beautiful ones at Boden and J. Crew but who has either £59 or £225 (!!!) to spend on a swimsuit - especially when my summer holiday plans are more staycation than vacation.  So I was delighted to find this amazingly flattering and beautifully fitted swimsuit at good old M&S. Don't you just love that pretty spot print with a pop of coral!

The top is half is such a pretty shape and makes me feel like I'm in a bikini top (ah, those were the days!) and the bottom half has ingenious rouching and panelling to hold everything in nicely for a slimmer silhouette. Perfect! Going swimming with those little monkeys of mine has never seemed so appealing!

Fab tangerine colour, but selling out fast!

Pret-a-Surf for J. Crew £225
Love this simple star print, but £225? Really!

Love this swimsuit, the ultimate nautical style, and comes in other fab colour ways.

Just the job and looks far more expensive than it is!

What A Glorious Weekend!

Sunday 8 June 2014

I hope it's been just as warm and sunny where you are as it has been here, my skin has quite a rosy glow from so much time spent in the park and in the garden this weekend. We just had a laid back weekend, with fun to be had in the park, a spot of tidying at home (got to love a clean kitchen!) and my new tshirt from Zara arrived yesterday which I got to wear out today, much to my delight!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend too, it really feels like summer's begun :)

Love Heart Tattoo

1

Thursday 5 June 2014

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I'd got a tattoo on my wrist, and finally I'm getting around to sharing pics now that it's all healed up. I was going to say that tattoos are either a love it or hate it type thing, but I don't think that's strictly true - my husband doesn't mind the couple I have but has no desire or intention to get any himself as he just doesn't see the appeal; and I like mine and a few others on other people, but I really don't like the David Beckham approach to covering yourself in loads - so I guess there's loving them, hating them, and a little medium place in between.

Anyway, fortunately for me (now that it's permanently stuck to my arm) I love my new love heart tattoo and I'm really pleased I went ahead and did it after thinking about it for a year.

As I've mentioned before I already have a tattoo on my lower back which I had done whilst in my second year at Uni. It was a total spontaneous thing and I didn't plan it or have any grand designs on what I was going to have put on my back. As it turned out I chose a kind of surfy/tribal type symbol (as you do) and although the design itself has no real meaning to me, I love it all the same as it's a constant reminder now, in my much more grown up state of being a wife and mother, that once I did something reckless and just purely for the fun of it!

So, then, some years later (let's not count!) comes the desire to get another tattoo and I decided to get a heart tattooed onto my wrist. This time I took a long time to think about what the design would be, why I wanted on my wrist, and well, why I wanted it at all! I have a particularly inquisitive 4 year old daughter who I knew I'd have to be accountable to in terms of explaining what it was and why I had it (and no, you can't get one, or at least not til you're older!!) so I wanted to make sure I was 100% happy with it.

And really, for me, it came down to this. I wanted to get the tattoo as I really wanted, needed to do something just for me.  I'm not particularly rebellious, I don't do things just for a reaction. I don't mind if people love it or hate it, as I really did it for me - I began to think that to regret doing something, or to regret not doing something, was surely the same thing so why worry too much about it all (in life and in tattoos...), just trust your gut instinct for once. Now, when I see my heart tattoo it reminds me to love myself and to trust myself, and above all, to just be myself. It's so freeing to feel like I did something just because I wanted to, and it just brings a smile to my face.

And that's got to be good reason enough right :) x

Hello Pippit!

Monday 2 June 2014

So today I've mostly been exploring and experimenting with the new app, Pippit. This is a new social media app, created by two of my favourite stateside bloggers, Joy Cho from Oh Joy, and Naomi Davies (alongside her husband Josh) from Love Taza. If you get a chance to check it out I think you'll like it!

So far it seems simple enough to use and I'm a complete technophobe so that's saying something, but there are still some features that I've not got the hang of (i.e the search facility, am I missing something?!). It's got similarities to Pinterest so it works in the way you might expect, although that's not to say that it's just the same as Pinterest, it's got a lot of different things going for it which you'll soon see.

I'd be interested to know if you like it too? Follow me at @aneatlittleshop!
